About Organization:
New Way Social and Development Organization (NSDO) is a development, advocacy, and humanitarian organization working in Afghanistan since 2011. Our primary focused are women and children. Our work has seen momentous changes in the lives of thousands of marginalized and vulnerable communities, particularly women and children living in fragile and humanitarian situations in Afghanistan. This remarkable transformation has realized by the pronounced support and backing of our upright partners, including German International Cooperation (GIZ), USAID, European Commission (EC) Save the Children International, GFA, DAI, UN-HABITAT, UNAMA, International development stakeholders, and our community partners. NSDO is truly a democratic organization governed by an independent body elected or appointed members who jointly oversee the strategies. We have all the accountability standards in place and practiced. We are certified by the USAID and Afghanistan Institute for Civil Society (AICS) as a prominent NGO and potential CSO in Afghanistan. We have been working in three sectors Advocacy, humanitarian and development in Afghanistan since 2011. We have been engaged in women economic empowerment through; income generation, agriculture development and Value chain development interventions in the north of Afghanistan.
Job Purpose:
The Enterprise Development Expert is responsible for supporting the creation, growth, and sustainability of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through capacity building and training, creating strategic guidance and planning. This position aims economic development by fostering entrepreneurial ecosystems, promoting innovation, and enhancing business skills in local enterprises.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored advice and technical assistance to entrepreneurs and SMEs to improve business operations, management, marketing, financial planning, and growth strategies.
  • Assist in identifying new business opportunities and developing sustainable business models.
  • Design and deliver training programs, workshops, and seminars to build the skills of entrepreneurs and SMEs in areas such as business planning, marketing, financial management, and leadership.
  • Organize peer learning groups or networking sessions for entrepreneurs to share experiences and best practices.
  • Support entrepreneurs in developing comprehensive business plans and financial projections.
  • Assist businesses in identifying funding opportunities, including grants, loans, and investor funding.
  • Facilitate market linkages for SMEs to access new markets, suppliers, and customers, both locally and internationally.
  • Establish partnerships with relevant stakeholders such as banks, government agencies, investors, and other development organizations to strengthen the business environment.
  • Conduct market research to understand trends, challenges, and opportunities for SMEs in the target sectors.
  • Provide strategic advice based on research findings and data analysis, helping SMEs to adapt to market changes.
  • Promote the development of a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem by engaging with local government bodies, private sector, and civil society organizations.
  • Advocate for policies and practices that enhance the business environment and support enterprise development.
  • Track the progress and impact of enterprise development programs, providing regular reports and updates on key performance indicators.
  • Identify challenges and propose solutions to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of enterprise support initiatives.
  • Advise on the financial aspects of enterprise development, including cost management, cash flow, investment, and profit maximization.
  • Assist SMEs in identifying appropriate sources of finance, including loans, venture capital, or government support schemes.
  • Promote innovation in business practices and products/services to help businesses stay competitive.
  • Support SMEs in adopting sustainable business practices that are environmentally and socially responsible.
Job Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Entrepreneurship, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certification in enterprise development is an advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in enterprise development, business consultancy, or a related field.
  • Experience in working with SMEs, particularly in providing business advisory services.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of the SME sector, business management, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent English and Local Languages communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver training programs.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to conduct market research and feasibility studies.
  • Good networking and relationship-building skills with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently to the project sites in districts of Kunduz and Takhar  provinces.
