About Organization:
New Way Social and Development Organization (NSDO) is a development, advocacy, and humanitarian organization working in Afghanistan since 2011. Our primary focused are women and children. Our work has seen momentous changes in the lives of thousands of marginalized and vulnerable communities, particularly women and children living in fragile and humanitarian situations in Afghanistan. This remarkable transformation has realized by the pronounced support and backing of our upright partners, including German International Cooperation (GIZ), USAID, European Commission (EC) Save the Children International, GFA, DAI, UN-HABITAT, UNAMA, International development stakeholders, and our community partners. NSDO is truly a democratic organization governed by an independent body elected or appointed members who jointly oversee the strategies. We have all the accountability standards in place and practiced. We are certified by the USAID and Afghanistan Institute for Civil Society (AICS) as a prominent NGO and potential CSO in Afghanistan. We have been working in three sectors Advocacy, humanitarian and development in Afghanistan since 2011. We have been engaged in women economic empowerment through; income generation, agriculture development and Value chain development interventions in the north of Afghanistan.
Job Purpose:
The purpose of a Project Manager (PM) is to oversee and manage projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. A Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all project tasks while managing resources, timelines, and stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and supervision of all project activities in accordance with the approved project document, work plan and budget. 

  • Manage the project team and coordinate with partners, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities, effective communication and coordination, and high-performance standards. 

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with relevant government authorities, private sector actors, civil society organizations, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders at provincial and district levels. 

  • Ensure that project adopts a participatory, community-based, and market-driven approach, involving all relevant stakeholders in the identification of needs, priorities, opportunities, and solutions. 

  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to the project team and partners. 

  • Ensure that the project integrates cross-cutting issues such as gender equality, women’s empowerment, and social cohesion in all its activities and outputs. 

  • Monitor the progress and performance of the project against the agreed indicators, targets, and milestones, using appropriate tools and methods; Logframe, result framework, and theory of change. 

  • Prepare regular narrative reports on the project activities, achievements, challenges and lessons-learned for internal management and external reporting to the donor. 

  • Identify potential risks and challenges and under supervision of the Program Manager, develop mitigation measures and contingency plans to ensure smooth implementation of the project. 

  • Supervise, monitor, and follow up with the project team’s activities and operations.  

  • Conducting staff meeting on weekly basis with provincial team for better coordination, implementation and addressing challenges and issues faced by them during the implementation phase.  

  • Facilitate learning and knowledge sharing among the project team, partners and stakeholders on the best practices, innovations and lessons-learned from the project. 

  • Coordinating the project’s activities and operations on regular basis with governmental and non-governmental organizations. 

  • Attending all sectoral meetings and presenting NSDO’s operations within the context of project to relevant governmental and non-governmental authorities and organizations.  

  • Any other tasks being assigned by Program Manager.

Job Requirements:
  • A master’s degree in Bussiness and Administration, agriculture, rural development, natural resources management, environmental studies, economics, or a related field. Knowledge of project management is an asset. 

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in managing complex and large-scale projects. 

  • Proven expertise and experience in community resilience and Agro business value chain development, conflict sensitivity, market analysis, value chain upgrading, quality standards. 

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the socio-economic, political, and environmental context of Afghanistan, especially in rural areas affected by climate change and conflict. 

  • Excellent leadership, management, and communication skills, with ability to motivate and coordinate a diverse team of staff, and partners. 

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills, with ability to adapt to changing situations and cope with challenges. 

  • Excellent report writing skills, with ability to produce clear, concise, and quality reports for internal management and external reporting to the donor. 

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Dari and/or Pashto is an asset. 

  • Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant project management software applications. 

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently to the project sites in districts of Ghazni and Maidan Wardak provinces.
