About Organization: |
New Way Social and Development Organization (NSDO) is a development, advocacy, and humanitarian organization working in Afghanistan since 2011. Our primary focused are women and children. Our work has seen momentous changes in the lives of thousands of marginalized and vulnerable communities, particularly women and children living in fragile and humanitarian situations in Afghanistan. This remarkable transformation has realized by the pronounced support and backing of our upright partners, including German International Cooperation (GIZ), USAID, European Commission (EC) Save the Children International, GFA, DAI, UN-HABITAT, UNAMA, International development stakeholders, and our community partners.
NSDO is truly a democratic organization governed by an independent body elected or appointed members who jointly oversee the strategies. We have all the accountability standards in place and practiced. We are certified by the USAID and Afghanistan Institute for Civil Society (AICS) as a prominent NGO and potential CSO in Afghanistan.
We have been working in three sectors Advocacy, humanitarian and development in Afghanistan since 2011. We have been engaged in women economic empowerment through; income generation, agriculture development and Value chain development interventions in the north of Afghanistan.

Job Purpose: |
The overall purpose is to ensure that gender issues are prioritized and addressed in a way that fosters inclusivity, fairness, and social equity. |
Job Responsibilities: |
- Responsible for reporting to Gender Specialist and Program Manager of her relevant and assigned activities and operations.
- Adapts and complies with the gender-transformative approaches for the household and community and religious leaders.
- Responsible for conducting gender related and GBV training to the project staff and project’s beneficiaries within the context of project’s activities and operations.
- Based on the gender-assessment conducted in the project by the partners, she will be identifying gaps and existing opportunities beneficiary.
- Facilitating the active engagement and participation of religious leaders and men to promote gender equality from the economic perspective.
- Providing instructions and guidelines for the project team in incorporation of findings and gender-sensitive market assessment and gender analysis into the project implementation and monitoring.
- Providing support in identifying barriers for women and their active participation in the project and providing instructions for the project team to address and alleviate those barriers.
- Leading and facilitating the development of positive gender messages from the Islamic perspective tailored to the literacy level of targeted communities.
- Assisting the Project Manager and MEAL Officer in collecting case studies and success stories relevant to achievements in the gender-equality and gender-relevant interventions.
- Submitting weekly, monthly, quarterly and other scheduled plans and reports to Project Manager on regular basis.
- Your tasks must not be only confined to gender-related activities.
- And other job related tasks assigned by Gender Specialist and Program Manager.

Job Requirements: |
- Best oral and written communication skills in English and local languages
- Bachelor or Master Degrees in Social, Economic and Management science, gender studies or other related fields of studies
- 2 to 3 years of relevant working experience
- Be able to visit the project’s targeted districts and villages
- Having full knowledge of cultural and religious sensitivities and values
- Compliance and adherence to all the organizational rules and regulations
- Be morally and disciplinary fit for the job.
- Having good knowledge and skills in computer particularly MS Word and MS PowerPoint
- Be able to work under pressure
